Eric D. Subin, Esq.

Eric D. Subin, Esq. is a highly successful trial attorney with experience in both high-profile international cases and domestic civil prosecution. He graduated from Emory University with a double major in political science and philosophy, then earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Afterward, he expanded his skills with certifications from the University of Oxford and the Cayman Islands Law School.

Eric’s first immersion into international law practice came during the prosecution of former Liberian President Charles Taylor. Taylor was the first head of state to be convicted by a hybrid, international and national court since the Nuremberg trials after World War II. In 2011, The Hague convicted Taylor of 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Working in conjunction with the Office of the Prosecutor, led by Brenda J. Hollis, Eric experienced the intensity of high-risk international litigation. This experience equipped Eric with formidable dedication to his clients and tactical planning, qualities that inform his approach to defending victims today.

Soon after, Eric Subin continued to shape his expertise at DeHeng Law Group, the premier international law firm in Beijing and one of the largest in China. There, he worked to ensure that client corporations remained in adherence to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). This corporate experience honed his aptitude to navigate intricate legal frameworks, strengthening his capacity to manage complex or cross-border cases.

After gaining international experience, Eric returned to the United States in February 2012 to join his family's firm, Subin Associates LLP. Eric worked as a third-generation attorney at the firm, alongside his uncle Herbert S. Subin, Esq. There, he focused on representing accident victims in state and federal courts, handling cases including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, trucking accidents, and police misconduct. Eric is regarded for his strategy, uncompromising standards, and strong instincts.

Over the past 10 years, his work has resulted in more than $200 million in settlements and verdicts, including several police brutality cases in the New York Metropolitan area. Some of his notable cases include winning summary judgment and a multimillion-dollar settlement for a man assaulted and falsely arrested in 2013, negotiating a seven-figure settlement for a postal worker beaten by NYPD detectives in Queens in 2019, and securing another seven-figure settlement for a Staten Island man who was assaulted by police in his home in a hate crime because he was gay.

Mr. Subin represented a victim of traumatic childhood sexual abuse and secured a $102 million award under the Child Victims Act.

In representing a plaintiff against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), he won a $17 million jury verdict.

For another client, a motorist injured in a bus collision with an MTA bus, he obtained a $14.5 million jury verdict.

Throughout his career, Mr. Subin has aided his clients in their darkest hours, delivering outcomes that forever change their lives.

Eric is dedicated to representing victims whose voices might otherwise be lost in the legal system. He has been recognized on the New York Metro Super Lawyers list for several years, an honor given to the top 5% of attorneys in New York and was also named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 list.

Clients, colleagues, and community leaders look to Eric not only for his legal acumen but for strong counsel when pressure is high. Exacting and determined, he’s often invited to provide clarity and share legal insights on media outlets such as The New York Times, CBS, and other news programs, as well as on radio stations. Subin’s battle-honed knowledge and devotion to his community have also earned him many features in the New York Law Journal.

As Principal and Lead Trial Attorney at Subin Law, he remains devoted to supporting the people of New York. Mr. Subin’s approach is based on strategy, integrity, and execution, assuring that every client, regardless of the odds against them, has a fierce and unrelenting advocate in their corner.
