Frank Melendez has nearly 40 years of experience representing community members with a compassionate and unrelenting approach. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he is the middle child of a single mother of three, who instilled in him the need to fight for a good cause and to use education as a way to a better life. In high school, he became involved in student groups such as ASPIRA that reinforced not only a high school education but also the need for a college education. In 1979, he earned a BA in sociology with a minor in law from SUNY Binghamton.
In 1980 he attended Adelphi University’s Certified Paralegal Degree Program and graduated with honors. In that same year, he began working full-time for Bert W. Subin. Frank M. Melendez has been associated with the Subin Law family's legal legacy for over 45 years.
Motivated by a desire to provide a voice for those in his community who were wrongly injured, in 1983 he decided to go to law school. Completing a four-year program at Brooklyn Law, he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1987. In the same year that he graduated from law school, he also passed the New York State Bar, allowing him to work as a trial attorney, and he has been doing so ever since.
Since 1987, he has worked as a trial attorney, involving himself in all aspects of personal injury litigation in New York, from inception to trial. In 1990, he was admitted to both the Southern District Court of the State of New York and the Eastern District Court of the State of New York. In 1994, he was admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Frank Melendez has been dedicated to helping others and continues to fight for outcomes that change people’s lives.
In 1990, Mr. Melendez secured his first seven-figure jury verdict for a client and over the years has secured multiple seven and eight figure jury verdicts for his clients.
For a plaintiff who was badly injured in an accident where an apartment ceiling caved in on him, Mr. Melendez secured a jury verdict of over $4,000,000.00. When a woman was injured in a motor vehicle accident, Mr. Melendez secured another $4,000,000.00 jury verdict. In another trial, Frank Melendez fought for a woman who suffered a traumatic injury to her ankle and knee due to a defective sidewalk and secured a $6,400,000.00 jury verdict.
